Evolt Charging strengthens Senior Leadership Team
As company marks 15 years of shaping the UK’s EV infrastructure landscape
Evolt Charging, part of SWARCO Smart Charging, and one of the UK’s leading electric vehicle (EV) businesses, has appointed John Betts as Business Operations Director. The appointment, which coincides with its 15-year anniversary, is part of a broader restructure to create a new senior leadership team to drive the business into its next phase of growth.
John joins from SWARCO UK & Ireland, where he served as Operations Director, and brings more than two decades of experience in transport and smart mobility, including 12 years at Siemens.
His appointment comes as Evolt reinforces its focus on operational excellence and delivery at scale which is critical as the UK EV charging sector enters a pivotal growth period.
He joins the senior leadership team under the continued leadership of Justin Meyer, who has served as Managing Director since founding the business in 2010. The newly formed leadership team also now includes Steffan Evans as Finance Director. (With almost 10 years in the SWARCO Group, Steffan has played a key role in supporting the growth of SWARCO Smart Charging and now takes on a dedicated leadership role with Evolt).
New senior management team
Supporting the new Evolt leadership to execute strategic direction and deliver operational excellence, is Evolt’s new senior management team, which brings together deep functional expertise and combined experience within the EV sector.
This team includes: Tom Davies, Business Development Director, Stephen Trayner, Customer Service Director, Seamus O’Dwyer, Operations Performance Director, Greg Longden, Commercial Director, Danielle Cort, Marketing Director, Alia Ali, Head of Legal and Gillian Smyth as HR Business Partner.
This leadership team brings together a balance of continuity and fresh perspective, ensuring Evolt remains agile, responsive, and focused on delivering the highest standards of service, compliance and operational performance for its customers and partners.
The UK’s EV charging sector is entering a pivotal growth phase, driven by national targets to deploy over 300,000 public charge points by 2030 and a surge in EV adoption. With battery electric vehicles (BEVs) now accounting for 21.3% of new car registrations, demand for charging infrastructure is growing rapidly and there is a need for experienced providers with a strong track record and operational capability in place ready to support this at scale.
“As the sector enters into an important new chapter, Evolt’s focus remains on delivering future-ready EV charging infrastructure for our customers and partners,”
says Justin Meyer, Managing Director at Evolt Charging. “This means having the right leadership in place – people who not only bring deep industry expertise, but who also share our passion for creating a more sustainable transport system and understand the responsibility that comes with supporting essential infrastructure.”
