Powering Aberdeen’s Sustainable Future

Project spotlight: Powering Aberdeen’s sustainable future with 16 new EV chargers

At Evolt Charging, we are always committed to driving sustainable transport solutions across the UK. Our latest partnership with Aberdeen City Council is a testament to this commitment, as we embark on an ambitious project to install and upgrade 16 EV charging units across multiple sites in Aberdeen City.

Project overview

The project, managed by our experienced Project Manager Alex McLellan, involves a mix of replacing older units and installing brand-new chargers.

Specifically, we are replacing four older units and adding seven new 50kW units alongside 16 fast chargers.

The first of these new units is scheduled to go live in August 2024, with the entire project slated for completion by early 2025, depending on the Distribution Network Operator (DNO) timelines.

Full turnkey solution

We are delivering a full turnkey solution for this project, ensuring that all installations are seamlessly integrated into Aberdeen’s existing infrastructure. These chargers will be commissioned onto ChargePlace Scotland, aligning with the city’s broader sustainable transport initiatives.

Challenges and solutions

One of the significant challenges we faced was balancing the load with limited power while working within DNO timescales. Our solution was to strategically match new installations with existing chargers at certain sites, ensuring efficient power usage and avoiding overloading the network.

Success metrics

Our team is committed to delivering this project on time and within budget. We attribute this success to regular client meetings, flexibility in accommodating changes, and close collaboration between our project manager, account manager, and the client.

Lessons learned and best practices

Throughout this project, we’ve reinforced the importance of maintaining regular communication with the client, being adaptable to site-specific changes, and collaborating closely with our partners Logan & Bruce Installation Partner and Sign Mark for smooth operations.

Looking forward

This project not only showcases our expertise in delivering complex EV charging solutions but also highlights Aberdeen City Council’s commitment to fostering a sustainable future. We are proud to be a part of this journey and look forward to continuing our partnership with Aberdeen City Council as we work together to power a cleaner, greener future.
