Upgrading the Isle of Man’s public charging infrastructure

Manx Utilities are working with us to upgrade the majority of the existing single-phase 7kW charge points to powerful three-phase 22kW units, enabling faster vehicle charging and supporting the increasing number of EVs on the road. Over the coming months as we work on the network, we’ll be adding more information to this webpage about all the benefits this network will bring including:

Isle of Man EV charging introductory offer

To promote the rollout of the new Evolt charging network in the Isle of Man, we’re offering residents a full refund on the price of a RFID card for a limited time. This offer is now valid from Tuesday 19th November 2024 to the end of January 2025. 

How can I apply?

It’s simple to apply for an RFID card! Just follow these steps:

  1. Register for an Evolt Network account here: https://account.swarcoeconnect.org/user/login
  2. During the registration process make sure to select ‘Purchase an RFID card’
  3. Add your payment details and order a new RFID card. At this point, you will be charged £12—but don’t worry, this amount will be refunded to your account
  4. Once we receive your application, our customer care team will verify your residency. This process typically takes 12–24 hours
  5. After confirming your residency, we will refund the £12 charge back to the payment method used to register
  6. RFID cards are sent out daily via Royal Mail 1st class post to the address provided in your application.

This is a special introductory offer to the residents of Isle of Man to encourage usage of the new and improved network.

If you have an account and the Evolt app or an Evolt/E.Connect card you can use this to pay for your charging sessions on the Isle of Man. 

We also offer Webpay on all chargers – visit webpay.swarcoeconnect.org or scan the QR code on the charge point. 

A number of the units on the island are fitted with contactless payment terminals. 

When you use any payment method other than an RFID card, a pre-authorisation (pre-auth) transaction will be carried out on your card before a session begins. This process checks that your card is active and reserves up to £35. 

Once your session is complete, we will capture the actual cost of the session and release any remaining amount from the pre-auth. 

For example, if we pre-authorise £35 and your session costs £17, we will charge £17 and cancel the remaining pre-auth of £18. 

This is a standard network charge across the entire Evolt Network. We are working with Manx Utilities to look at options for reducing this fee on the AC units on the island. Please look out for future updates.
